Walter's Story.
Private Walter Prophet (also Prophett) was presumed killed at Galippoli, in Turkey, on 10th August 1915. He was 20 years old.
Walter was born on 22nd April 1895, the son of John Prophett (1855 - 1923) and Mary Ann Prophett nee Morgan (1858 - 1939). Walter was baptised on 12th May, in Sandbach. He had two older sisters Harriet and Tamar. and brothers John and George. His sister Tamar died in 1908, aged 21.

The 1911 census shows Walter living with his parents and elder brothers John and George at 117 Union Street. By then, 15 year old Walter was working as a labourer for the railway company.
