George's Story.
Born Crewe, enlisted Chester. Son of John and Ann Parsons of 1, Reid Street, Crewe. Educated at Broad Street Boys School. Formerly employed in the Wheel Shop, Crewe Works, as an apprentice fitter and turner. He joined up with two friends who were also killed in the same month of the war (William Boulton, April 24, and Alfred Cartwright, April 3). Went to France (Boulogne) on September 28, 1915. According to casualty reports, he was killed instantly at 2.20pm by an exploding shell, when trying to save a machine gun under heavy fire.
