Birkonian Dies of Wounds.

Mr. J. Holmes, of 20, Lorn Street, Birkenhead, has received the sad intelligence that his eldest son Corporal W. E. Holmes has died of wounds received in action near Gaza. Corporal Holmes, who was 24 years of age, joined the Cheshire Regiment on September 5th, 1914, and had been in Egypt since January, 1916. Prior to enlistment he was employed by Messrs. Williams Bros., Market Place South, Birkenhead.
