Birkenhead News 14 April 1917BIRKENHEAD SOLDIER INSTANTANEOUSLY KILLED
Mr. and Mrs. J. Pearson, of 65, Marion Street, Birkenhead, have received the very sad news that their son, Rifleman T. W. Pearson, has been killed in action. Two years ago he enlisted in the Lewis Gun Section, K.L.R., and had been in France for 14 months. His Captain has written a most sympathetic letter to Mr. and Mrs. Pearson in which he refers to the late soldier as “immensely popular with his comrades on account of his sterling character and always cheerful disposition,” and as “a fine brave fellow who knew no fear.” It seems that Rifleman Pearson was killed instantaneously. As a boy he attended Cathcart Street Council School, and afterwards worked at Messrs. Singleton and Son’s premises in Price Street. He was but 21 years of age when he laid down his life in his country’s cause.
