Herbert's Story.

Born and enlisted Crewe. Son of Mrs Manley of 81, Naylor Street, Crewe.
A former pupil at West Street Mixed School and labourer in
Crewe Works, and was a well-known local boxer. Went to
France on October 7. Killed by shrapnel. His brother Frank
would be killed during the Battle of Loos in 1915.
