Seacombe soldier killed
We regret to announce the death of Pte. Emil Edward Anderson, of the Manchester Regiment, aged 19 Years. He was of a cheery and affable disposition,and at the age of 17 Years the brave lad joined the colours. He was sent to India on garrison duty for 12 months,and volunteered for action service. He had only been in Mesopotamia three weeks when he was killed ,but no further particulars are forthcoming. He was an old boy St Pauls School, and employed by Messrs. Mawdesley and Son, printers, Liverpool. He attended Seacombe Presbyterian Church and was a loyal member in the Sunday School.
He was the second son of the late Sven Emil Anderson, and Mrs.W.R.Guthrie,12 Evelyn Road Seacombe. Three other sons are in the transport service, their stepfather being chief engineer on a transport ship.
