Walter John's Story.

Born

Dec 1898 Chester

Father William John Harrison was born in October 1870 in Liverpool, He married Fanny Vaughan in February 1891. He died on 7 December 1950 at the age of 80, and was buried in Chester, Cheshire.

Mother When Fanny Vaughan was born in December 1874 in Brighton, Sussex. She died on 23 August 1947 at the age of 72, and was buried in Chester, Cheshire.

School

Walter had attended St. Paul's church, Boughton.

St. Paul's church, Boughton, was built in 1830, and the parish formed in 1846 out of the parishes of St. John the Baptist and St. Oswald. The parochial schools were built in 1857 and opened in 1858. There were originally three schools, infant, girls' and boys', but the infants and girls were amalgamated in 1910, and the infants and girls merged with the boys to form Boughton St. Paul's C.E. Primary School in 1948.

 

 

 He won a Scholarship to the College School. He was also a Patrol Leader with The Boy Scouts.

At the outbreak of the Wat Walte was initially a Bugler at Chester Castle aged 15

Apprenticeship

He was an apprentice at The Hydraulic Engineering Company Chester  of Charles Street

“During World War I the company received large orders from the government for hydraulic presses for shell manufacture. There were also numerous orders from the Admiralty during this period. The Hydraulic Engineering Company's contribution to the war effort was emphasized by the visit to the Chester factory in May 1917 of King George V and Queen Mary.”

Tragically Walter was Killed In Action a week for Armistice 11 November 1918

In 1918 Mr and Mrs Harrison resided at 36, Christleton Rd., Boughton, Chester.
