Birkenhead News  30 June 1917

FOUGHT IN THE DARDANELLES.

Killed in Mesopotamia.

Mrs. Ferguson, whose home is at 85, Oliver Street, Birkenhead, has recently received news of the death in action of her husband, Lance-Corporal Robert Ferguson, of the Cheshire Regt. The deceased soldier was killed in action in Mesopotamia on the 30th April. Immediately on the outbreak of war he joined the Cheshires, and was all through the memorable Dardanelles campaign. He has been in hospital twice through sickness contracted whilst on active service. Besides a wife he leaves four children to mourn his loss. Lance-Corporal Ferguson was an old boy of St. Lue’s School, and was well known in Birkenhead.
