Edward Samuel's Story.

Born Mauritius, enlisted London. Son of Edward Samuel (founder of the South Cheshire Brewery)
and Mary Woolf of Abbey Fields, Sandbach. Resided at Haslington Hall
(his father’s former home), which he had purchased 18 months previous.
Married with four sons and was a director at Woolf’s Ltd. Served 11
years in the Black Watch and had fought in the Boer War, where he
was wounded at Magersfontein. Went to France on December 27, 1914.
According to casualty reports, received a severe wound to the head
and died in a military hospital at Boulogne.
