Francis John's Story.

Birkenhead News  22 October 1915

An Only Son.

Dies in the Dardanelles.

Private John Francis Duncan, of the1/4th Cheshires, died of typhoid fever in the Dardanelles on the 12th of September. Aged 19 years, he was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan of 166, Grange Road, Birkenhead. He joined the Army in September, 1914, and went with the first draft of his regiment to the Dardanelles. Born in Birkenhead, he went to St. Werburgh's School, and afterwards was employed by Mr. Didsbury, of Oxton Road, the well-known confectioner. Much sympathy is felt for the parents in their sorrow.
