Adrian Kingsley's Story.

Birkenhead News  28 April 1917

THE LATE PTE. DORRITY.

Mr G. A. and Mrs. Dorrity of 20, Thompson Street, Higher Tranmere, Birkenhead, are mourning the death of their youngest son, Adrian Kingsley (“Ken”) Dorrity, 1-10th, Liverpool Scottish, who was killed in action on April 20th last when only in his 22nd year. He passed his 21st birthday in the trenches. Prior to volunteering for service in October, 1915, the deceased was an electrical engineer in the service of Messrs. Campbell and Isherwood, Brocklebank Dock, Liverpool. He went out to France in February, 1916, was wounded in battle, and lay for three days and nights in a shell hole before being found and taken to a base hospital. Recovering from his injuries Pte. Dorrity again resumed active service, and, as stated, met his death on April 20th. He was hit in the neck by a bullet whilst in the front line trenches and his death was almost instantaneous. The deceased had not visited his home since first going out to France, and that fact adds to the keen sorrow which his death has caused to his parents, relatives, and friends. Two sons of Mr. and Mrs. Dorrity are working on munitions, and one has seen naval service in the Dardanelles.
