Private F. W. Kearsley Killed.
Private F. W. Kearsley has been officially reported as killed in action on the night of the August 20th. Pte. Kearsley, who resided with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Kearsley, of 15 Beaconsfield Road, Tranmere, had only been in the Army for seven months. Prior to this he was employed in the forwarding department of Messrs. Lever Bros., Port Sunlight. He was educated at St. Lukes’s School, and was a member of the church. He was only 22 years of age. In a letter from the chaplain of the regiment to Mrs. Kearsley it appears that Pte. Kearsley was among a party which was carrying stores to the trenches when a shell fell close by, killing him instantly. He can have suffered no pain. Pte. Kearsley’s colleagues at Port Sunlight have sent a letter of condolence to the bereaved mother. Pte Kearsley was attached to the [next words are illegible but assume it is ‘Cheshire Regiment’]. His parents have every sympathy in their present sad bereavement.
