Husband of Evelyn de Knoop of Calveley Hall. Attended New College Oxford, where he rowed (at bow) in the winning 1896 and 1897 Oxford varsity boat race teams. He was also the president for Witton Albion and Barnton football teams and was also a Cheshire Justice of the Peace.
