FLYING ACCIDENT.
Young Birkonian Killed.
Sergt. Pilot John Stabb Tuckett, aged 18 1/2, and the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs Tuckett, of 25, Cathcart Street, Birkenhead, was killed in an aeroplane accident in Scotland on May 26th. The deceased was educated at the Birkenhead Institute and joined the Flying Corps as a cadet in October 17 last. He had volunteered for scout flying, and was, at the time of his fatal accident, taking his final course in Scotland, and would shortly have gone on active service. Prior to joining the army Sergt. Pilot Tuckett was apprenticed to Messrs. W. and R. Graham, East India merchants, Rumford Street, Liverpool.
The funeral of the deceased took place on Thursday last at Flaybrick Hill Cemetery, where a number of people gathered to pay their last respects to the young soldier. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack and there were numerous floral tributes.
