Harry's Story.

Harry Corns was the the son of Emily and the late Peter Corns of 40 High Street Runcorn. He joined up only a few months prior to his death, and was stationed at Weymouth, when on parade on Friday 22nd November, he was taken with a sudden Illness and passed away three hours later at the Burdon Military Hospital at Weymouth.

Harry had lived with his mother at the above address and as a boy attended the parish school and church. He has worked at Castner Kellner Works, Weston Point. His body was brought to Runcorn Cemetery for a full military funeral, at which the coffin was covered witht he Union Jack, and a military detatchment with a firing party and buglers, attended from Warrington. Three volleys were fired and the buglers sounded the Last Post after the service at the graveside, which was conducted by the Rev B.S. Sapwell.
