Arthur's Story.

Athur was born in Rushgreen in 1899, only son of Mr & Mrs Albert Clare of Rush Green, Lymm.  He was educated at Oughtrington School and attended the Congregational Chapel.  He was also a member of the Heatley Boy Scouts for 5 years.

In civilian life he was employed as an engine driver by Mr Verdin Cooke of Heatley Salt Works, Heatley, Lymm.  He enlisted with the Cheshire Regiment in February 1917 and after completing his training was drafted to the western front in December 1917.

He was killed in action on 28th September 1918 aged 22.
