ONLY SON KILLED
Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, of 79, Church Street, have received official news that their only son, Bombardier Thomas Edwards was killed in action on April 3rd 1918. He joined the R.F.D., in May 1915, at the age of 19 years, before which he was employed by Messrs. Parker and Fraser as a butcher at the Woodside Lairage. He was educated at Claughton Higher Grade School. In a letter received from their son’s chaplain he states :- “Your boy has died a soldier’s death in a great cause, a battle which we are all hoping and praying will prove the turning part of the war.” Much sympathy will be extended to the bereaved parents in their sad loss.
