Sidney's Story.

Born 13 November 1885 at Chorley, Cheshire, son of brickmaker Joseph and Mary Alice (nee Burgess) Bowers, Sidney was baptised at Alderley Edge Wesleyan Chapel, 16th June 1887 and by 1891, the family were then living at Lindow. His siblings were, Harry, Joseph, Arthur, Dora, Frank, Olive, Albert, Annie and Emily Ann.

In the first quarter of 1905, Sidney married Harriet Goodwin, registered at Salford. The 1911 census shows them to be living at 44, Ashenton Street, Middleton, Lancashire, with their three children, Violet (4), Sydney (2) and Joseph (I month), Sidney was working as a coal carter.

Sidney enlisted at Rochdale; his campaign was at the Somme, France, he died of wounds received, 1st October 1918, aged 32 years.
