Thomas Herbert's Story.
Much regret has been expressed in Stockport at the news that Thomas Herbert Barratt, who before the war was assistant engineer at the Ring Spinning Company’s Mills, has been killed in action at Legheri.
The deceased, who was son of Mr. William Barratt, the secretary of Palmer Mills Company, was in Lancashire Fusiliers, in which he had served three and half years in the ranks and eleven years in the reserves. He was called up at the outbreak of the war, and immediately responded. He resided at 39, Charlotte Street, and was married, having one daughter, aged 2 ½ years. He was 37 years of age.
