Cyril Garner's Story.

Cyril was the son of Joseph Allcock (1859 - 1921) and Ada Garner (1858–1902). He was born in the spring of 1895, and baptised at St Mary's Church, Sandbach, on 7th April that year. His family lived at Church Street, Sandbach, and then at 12 Front Street. Like his father, Cyril was a bricklayer's labourer. His elder brother, John Federick, was a railway horse-keeper and stableman working for LNWR. After Cyril's death, John was also to enlist into the army, joining the 6th Cheshire Regiment. Cyril's other siblings were Charles, Florence, Oliver and Alfred.

Cyril enlisted at Shrewsbury on 12th December 1915, and served for just four months.
