ROCK FERRY SOLDIER KILLED.

News has been received that Private John Nicholas Ward, aged 19, has been killed in action in France, on June 7th last. He joined the Cheshires and was transferred to the South Lancashires, with which he was killed. Pte. Ward went out in June 1916, and it is stated that he was killed by a German shell falling about a yard away. Death was instantaneous. In a letter from his captain, he states that Private Ward was well liked by all the officers and men of his company and is greatly missed. He was educated at Bebington Schools, and was employed lately by Lever Bros. He resided with his parents at Sexton’s Lodge, Bebington Cemetery, Rock Ferry. We extend our deepest sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
