WIDOW AND SIX CHILDREN BEREAVED.

Birkenhead Fusilier Killed by Shell.

The War Office has intimated that Private Thomas Marsden, of the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers, was killed in action in France on the 13th November. No place is mentioned but it is believed he was killed by a shell, following upon a bayonet charge. He lived in Queens Buildings and leaves a widow and six little children. His family did not know of his death till New Years Day. He used to attend St. James’ School, and then was employed at Messrs. Grayson’s. He was a keen footballer, and had played for such well-known teams as North End, Birkenhead Town, and Wirral. He has a brother who is in Kitchener’s Army, and is at present stationed at Bournemouth.
