FRANKBY’S FIRST FALLEN HERO.

Sergt. A. Salisbury Killed.

News has this week been received by his mother, who lives at Frankby, of the death in Flanders, of Sergt. A. Salisbury, of the 1st Lincolnshire Regt. The photo which we reproduce was taken some eight years ago in India, where he served in the Army for many years. He was a reservist at the outbreak of war, and was called up at the commencement. Since that time he has guarded docks at Hull and elsewhere, and had drilled recruits in different training centres. On returning to this country from India he went to live at Widnes, where he was a postman. He went out to the front only at the end of July and was killed in action on August 24th. He had many friends in the Deeside district, all of whom will deeply regret to hear of his death. One of his brothers, T. Salisbury, has been a postman at West Kirby for many years.
