Frederick Charles's Story.
Private F. C. Saunders
Mrs. Saunders, 110 Wistaston Road, Crewe, has been officially notified that her youngest son, Private Frederick Charles Saunders, Cheshire Regiment, was killed in action on August 22. Before joining up he was employed in the Time Office of the Steel Works. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Institute, the C.E.M.S. and a teacher at All Saints Sunday School.
Two years ago, he was wounded. He was at home recently on a short leave and had only just returned to the front when he met his death. His brother, Lance Corporal J.S. Saunders, West Yorkshire Regiment, was killed in action on the 20 August 1917. Another brother Lance Corporal A. Saunders, Cheshire Regiment, is serving abroad. Among other letters of sympathy Mrs Saunders has received, is one from the staff at the Time Office, bearing testimony to the esteem in which her son was held with them. He was 21 years of age.
