William Taberer's Story.

William Taberer Clayton was born in Rostherne, Knutsford, Cheshire in 1895, one of four children (he was a twin with his sister Dorothy) of Thomas (an estate clerk) and Nellie Clayton of The Old Hall, Rostherne.

Originally Williams joined the 9^th Battalion of The Lancers but transferred, becoming Rifleman no. 11643 of the 1^st Battalion of the Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort's Own).

William was killed in action on the 6^th July 1915.
