William Taberer's Story.

William Taberer Clayton was born in Rostherne, Knutsford, Cheshire in 1895, one of four children (he was a twin with his sister Dorothy) of Thomas (an estate clerk) and Nellie Clayton of The Old Hall, Rostherne.

Originally Williams joined the 9th Battalion of The Lancers but transferred, becoming Rifleman no. 11643 of the 1st Battalion of the Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort's Own).

William was killed in action on the 6th July 1915.
