Joseph William's Story.

Born Crewe, enlisted Stafford. Son of Daniel and Lydia Holme of 126,
Earle Street, Crewe. Former pupil at Beech Street School. Joined
the Royal Engineers from Crewe Works on May 7, 1907, after
working as an engine fitter. Went to France on November 5,
1914. Reports stated he was shot by a German
sniper at night, whilst working near the trenches.
