Birkenhead News 18 October 1918CLAUGHTON ROAD SOLDIER DIES.
The saw tidings have been conveyed to Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, of 291, Claughton Road, Birkenhead, that their son, Pte. W. Roberts, of the Cheshire Regt., aged 23 years, has passed away. He joined H.M. Army in January, 1915, and left England for the East on September 29th, 1916, and served over two years in Salonika. The official report of his death stated that he died of bronchial pneumonia and malarial fever on Oct. 9th, 1918. He had been a victim to malarial fever three times previous to his last fatal attack. Pte. Roberts was well liked by all who knew him, and a favourite with all his chums. He received his education at St. John’s School.
