Twice Wounded Hero’s Death
A PATRIOT’S SUFFERINGS
In our last issue we reproduced a photograph, and reported the death from wounds of private Percy Ellwood, the only son of Mrs. Elizabeth Ellwood of 78, Woodchurch Road. Since then further particulars have been received. Pte. Ellwood was first wounded by a sniper on March 13th, at Neuve Chapelle, and in consequence had to undergo two operations. He returned to the front in October, and received his mortal wound in January. He lay for 36 hours before it was possible for anyone to attend to his wound, which he received in the course of a big bayonet charge.
