BIRKENHEAD MAN KILLED AT HILL 60.
Private Richard Lennon, of the 4th Battalion King’s Liverpool Regiment, was killed during the recent heavy fighting. Although his parents have not yet received the War Office note, his name and number have appeared in the official list of casualties, and the parents have been advised by two friends who were in the same regiment that his death occurred on Hill 60, and was caused by gas poisoning. Private Lennon was 24 years of age and unmarried, and resided with his mother at 29, St. Anne Street. He was a Birkenhead born lad, and was educated at St. Laurence’s School, and afterwards worked for his parents as a dealer. He has two other brothers serving, one with the Cheshires and the other in the King’s Liverpool.
