Joseph Carless's Story.

Joseph was born in 1882 in Wellington, Shropshire, second son of John & Fanny Gough.  He moved to Lymm in 1914 with his wife Annie and they resided at the Jolley Thresher Hotel, Broomedge.  He was educated at Wellington College and was a conservative.
He joined the Army in August 1917 and after training at Orskirk and Barry Dock was drafted to the front at the end of September 1918.  He lost a brother who was torpedoed whilst on active service.
He was killed in action on 4th November 1918 aged 36.
