Amos's Story.

Amos was born in Heatley, Lymm in 1892, he was the adopted son of William & Harriet Simpson of Higher Lane, Lymm and was the nephew of Mr & Mrs Harry Jones of Sandy Lane, Lymm.  In civilian life he was employed on the L & N W Railway.
He enlisted with the South Lancashire Regiment on 2nd September 1914 and, after completing his training, left England for the front in June 1915.  His aunt Mrs Jones told the local newspaper, the Warrington Guardian, that when he came to say goodbye he told her that he felt that "he shall not see her again."

He was killed in action at the Dardanelles on 10th August 1915 aged 23.  He left a fiance who lived in Booths Hill, Lymm.
