George's Story.

George Powell served with the Signal section of the 3rd Anti Aircraft Brigade Royal Artillery. The Brigade was cut off from the main British Army contigent during the retreat to Dunkirk and had to fight a rearguard action against advancing German troops. George was killed during this fighting on 27 May 1940. He is buried in the Hazebrouck Communal Cemetary in France.
