Frederick's Story.
Born 21 April 1888 in Rainow, son of farmer, John Clarke and Hannah, (nee Booth), Barlow at North End Farm, Rainow, he was one of ten children. His siblings were, Samuel, Thomas, John, Joseph, William Henry, Mary Eliza, Alice Ann and Ralph. Fred married Mary Ann Pedley in the April 1913.
He attested in Canada to join the Canadian Expeditionary Force, December 22nd 1914, at Souris, Manitoba, at the time he was a locomotive wiper, however his next of kin (wife) is shown to be living at 3, Welch Street, Hurdsfield, Macclesfield. Fred had previously served with the 7th Battalion Cheshire Regiment before immigrating. He was a man of five feet five and half inches tall with a thirty-three-inch chest measurement, his eyes were blue, and he had brown hair, his religion was Church of England. He was killed action, Sunday, 24/03/1918, aged 30 years.
