Young “Cheshire” Killed.

TRANMERE BOY HERO.

The death is announced of Private Wm. Williams (18), of 11, Stewart’s Place, Tranmere, who was killed in action during the recent heavy fighting in France. He enlisted in the 1st Cheshire Regiment about twelve months ago, and left for the front with the second contingent of his regiment just before Christmas. He took part in several noticeable battles, and from the letters received by his aunt, Mrs. Titherington, who resides at 1a, Stafford Street, Birkenhead, he was happy as the circumstances would allow.

The father, who is serving on H.M.S. Heron, has yet to learn of his young soldier son’s noble death.
