Thomas's Story.

Thomas was born in 1895 in Lymm, the 4th and youngest son of John and Elizabeth Read of Rushgreen, Lymm.  He was educated at Lymm School and attended the Congregational Chapel in Lymm.  He was employed at Mr Bradshaw's brickyard in Statham, Lymm.
He enlisted 7 September September 1914, and on the 15 September was posted to the 10th battalion Cheshire Regiment. He went to France September 26, 1915.  He was wounded on July 9th 1916 and died 2 days later in a base hospital on the 11th July 1916.  His brother Private William Read was with him when he was wounded.
Another brother Private John Read also saw active serice with the Lymm Territorials.
