Death of a Birkenhead Soldier.

Those who made the acquaintance of Lance-Corpl. William Preston will learn with keen regret of his death, which recently occurred in the 31st Stationary Hospital, Baghdad. Joining the Cheshire Regiment in September, 1916. Lance-Corpl. Preston was drafted to Mesopotamia the following year, where, according to the official statement he has now died of appendicitis. Prior to enlisting he was in the employ of the British Leather Company. Mr. and Mrs. Preston reside at No. 17, Seabank Cottages, Tranmere.
