ANOTHER LOCAL HERO KILLED

Death of Mr. Guy B. Pollexfen

The war has claimed another victim in the person of Mr. Guy Barclay Pollexfen, who met his death on the 26th January, while in the trenches, having been shot through the head by a sniper.

Mr G. B. Pollexfen, who was 31 years of age, was a son of the late Mr. F. H. Pollexfen, of 3, Shrewsbury Road, and brother of Miss Glen and Lieut. Phil Pollexfen (Bantams). After leaving Balliol College, Oxford he went to reside in Burmah (sic) where he held a very excellent position. At the outbreak of war, however, his patriotic spirit was so great that he decided to relinquish his position and set sail for England, and on arrival enlisted in the Liverpool Scottish. For some time he was stationed with his Regiment in Edinburgh, going to the front in November, where he remained until his death.

In a letter sent to the family his Colonel states that Mr. Guy Pollexfen during his sojourn in the trenches had not been well and had spent a short time in hospital, but although feeling “seedy”, he declared he was fit to return, which he did, the sequel being as stated, that her gave his life for his country. The name of Pollexfen will undoubtedly recall the tragic death of Mr F. H. Pollexfen, father of this gallant soldier, which took place so recently as the 25th October, 1914.
