Born 24 October 1890 at Chadkirk, Cheshire, son of solicitor, John Edward and Edith Margaret Lee, (nee, French) Lees, of, St Mary’s Cliff, Alderley Edge. Jasper was the second youngest in a family of eight children. His siblings were Thomas, Sibyl French, Claud Arthur French, Gladys Mary, Roger Crompton, Beryl Edith and Muriel.

In 1911, Jasper is shown on the census as an army student. He received his commission in August 1914. Army records state; drowned at sea, Sunday, 28/03/1915, he was 24 years of age.

 His medals were despatched to his mother, 03/03/1922, she was living at St, Denys Lodge, Rotherfield, Sussex. Administration to his Will was with John Edward Lees, solicitor, Effects; £4532. 11s. 10d.
